Kutna Hora is located South-East of Prague near towns Kolin, Caslav, Podebrady.
The history of Kutna Hora is connected closely with mining of silver ore. Local mines were one of the biggest sources of silver in Mediaeval Europe. At the end of the 13th century Kutna Hora produced approximately one third of the whole European silver production. Kutna Hora was a coinage centre of so-called "Prazske grose" (Prague pennies) which ranked among the most stable European currency at that time.
Kutna Hora was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995.
The Gothic style Church of St. Jacob (1330) where you can see interesting Gothic and Renaissance and Baroque inventory and the Church of St. Barbara (1388), the patron of miners, ranks among the most valuable Gothic style architecture in Bohemia.
